Handcrafted in the UK · Limited batch production
Your new mud kitchen
Most mud kitchens are treated like disposable toys. Thin timber. Flat-pack construction. Wobbly after one winter. We built this one differently.
The Mud & Maple Family Mud Kitchen is a proper piece of outdoor furniture that happens to be designed for children. It's stable when they lean on it, solid when they climb around it, and built to handle daily use across every season.
We use FSC-certified Redwood for all playing surfaces — it's naturally smooth, durable, and ages beautifully outdoors. Every kitchen is handbuilt in our farm workshop in Brigstock, Northamptonshire. No flat-pack. No assembly. It arrives at your door ready to play with.
Built for outdoor play. Built to be shared by siblings. Built to last beyond a single season.
It's still a toy — just one made to stay in your garden, not fall apart in it.

Mud Kitchen FAQ's
This isn’t a flat-pack toy.
It’s built from real timber, assembled in our workshop, and designed to live outside all year — not just for one summer.
We make these in small batches, using premium redwood for all visible surfaces and a solid internal frame for strength. Each one takes time, care, and proper materials.
That’s why we don’t make hundreds at a time.
And it’s why they last.
What age is it for?
The Family Mud Kitchen is designed primarily for children aged 3–10, but it’s often enjoyed earlier with supervision and later by older children too.
The generous width allows siblings to play side-by-side, which makes it especially popular for families with more than one child.
Is it safe for children?
Yes. All visible timber is carefully sanded with rounded edges to reduce the risk of splinters, and the structure is designed to feel solid when children lean or play against it.
As with all outdoor play equipment, adult supervision is recommended.
Can it stay outside permanently?
Yes — it’s built as a proper piece of garden furniture, not a temporary toy.
The materials are suitable for outdoor use and will naturally weather over time. Many customers choose to leave it outside year-round.
Covering it during prolonged bad weather or re-oiling occasionally will help keep it looking its best.
Will the wood change colour?
Yes — this is natural.
Like all real timber used outdoors, the wood will naturally weather and soften in colour. This doesn’t affect strength or usability and is part of the character of the piece.
Occasional oiling can slow this process if you prefer a richer tone.

Does it come assembled?
Your mud kitchen is built and assembled in our workshop.
Depending on delivery method, it may arrive fully assembled or with very minimal final positioning required. You’ll be contacted after ordering to confirm the details.
This is not a flat-pack product.
Can we customise it?
To keep quality consistent and lead times reliable, this product is offered in three carefully designed specifications.
At this stage, we don’t offer custom sizing or bespoke alterations. You are welcome to paint it any colour you choose.
Who is this mud kitchen for?
This mud kitchen is for families who value quality, longevity, and proper craftsmanship.
It may not be the right choice if you’re looking for a lightweight, disposable, or flat-pack option.
